Lee Hak-joo played the role of Park Ki-se, the Executive Director of the Strategic Planning Division at Han Retail, in tvN’s weekend drama "The Potato Lab," which ended on April 6.

In the drama, Park Ki-se is portrayed as a successful person living a life that everyone envies. However, he is someone who lost the love of his life at a crucial moment. Lee Hak-joo's realistic performance added depth to the drama, making it feel more immersive.

In the early part of the drama, Park Ki-se’s playful quarrels with his ex-girlfriend Kim Mi-kyung (played by Lee Sun-bin) brought lighthearted humor to the show. As the story progressed, Park Ki-se began to realize his true feelings, displaying heartfelt emotions that resonated deeply with viewers.

One particularly moving scene was when Park Ki-se tearfully apologized to Mi-kyung at his father's funeral, expressing regret for leaving her. His sorrowful breakdown brought tears to the audience’s eyes.

Through this project, Lee Hak-joo further expanded his acting range. In contrast to his performances in recent works such as tvN's "Parole Examiner Lee Han-shin" and Coupang Play’s series "Newtopia," his portrayal in "The Potato Lab" demonstrated yet another facet of his acting capabilities.

Lee Hak-joo expressed his bittersweet feelings in saying farewell to the unforgettable character of Park Ki-se. He commented, “Playing the role of Park Ki-se in 'The Potato Lab' allowed me to live as a character unlike any I’ve portrayed before. It was a meaningful experience.”

He added, “While Ki-se had many immature aspects, he eventually returned to a life suited to his true self, leaving everything behind. Although the story of 'The Potato Lab' ended with episode 12, I hope that if there’s a continuation, Ki-se will live without regret.”

Lee Hak-joo concluded his reflections by saying, “Every moment of filming was truly enjoyable. To all the viewers who loved 'The Potato Lab' until the end and joined us on this journey, I sincerely thank you.”
